Kodiak Island Borough School District has opening for Middle School Health Teacher in Kodiak, AK. Carry out all directives from District Administration. Comply with all applicable laws, Board Policies, and administrative Regulations of the District. Be familiar with and comply with the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Facilitate, monitor, and assess student learning by teaching Health and Physical Education classes to students in grades 6-8; implementing all adopted programs and materials as set forth in District curriculum documents; utilizing District programs and tools for planning and grading as directed; assessing the progress of students on a regular basis and providing progress reports as required; using common, District-adopted, or other suitable assessments as appropriate for summative, formative, and diagnostic purposes; clearly articulating objectives and learning goals for all lessons, units, and courses, and communicating these to students and families; providing and supporting methods for students to monitor their own learning process as appropriate; preparing for assigned classes and showing written evidence of preparation upon request from the principal; differentiating instruction to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students; and effectively and regularly integrating and using instructional technology tools to enhance learning opportunities for students. Create and maintain a safe environment in accordance with school handbook and established emergency procedures. Work as a partner with parents, families, and the community. Participate in and contribute to the teaching profession by participating in and contributing to Health and Physical Education curriculum development; participating in and contributing to professional development; and maintaining a high standard of professional ethics. Must have Bachelors or foreign degree equivalent in Health, Physical Education, or related and Alaska Teaching Certificate or eligible.
