Qualifications

• Clearances under Acts 34, 114, and 151 required.
• Experience in custodial supervision preferred.
• Ability to manage supplies and payroll data.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement custodial assignments
• Assist in evaluating custodial employees
• Oversee activities of custodial staff and guide them to complete assignments
• Spot wet mop spills daily
• Assist in planning activities to maintain or improve building appearance
• Perform light maintenance tasks (e.g., replacing light tubes, bulbs, furniture)
• Report issues beyond assigned responsibilities to supervisor
• Monitor daily time sheets and compile payroll information
• Provide custodial staff with chemicals, supplies and equipment; maintain knowledge of equipment use
• Maintain supplies and generate requisitions for replenishments
• Coordinate operations for extracurricular activities or rentals and assign staff
• Perform other duties to support school facility operations

Job Description

Pottstown School District is seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Custodian to join our team atPottstown Middle School. This position plays a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Essential functions & responsibilities:

• Develop and implement custodial assignments
• Assist in evaluating custodial employees
• Oversee activities of and provide direction and assistance for custodial employees regarding the completion of specific job assignments
• Spot wet mop spills, etc. daily
• Assist in planning activities that contribute to maintaining or improving building appearance
• Perform light maintenance tasks as required, e.g. light tubes and bulbs, furniture and shade repairs, etc.
• Report to the supervisor any issues that are outside the scope of assigned responsibilities or require additional assistance
• Monitor daily time sheets and compile payroll information
• Supply custodial employees with chemicals, supplies and equipment. Maintain knowledge on proper use and care of custodial equipment and cleaning materials
• Maintain adequate supplies and generate requisitions for replenishments
• Responsible for the operation of announced extracurricular activities or rentals and sporting events including assignment to staff to cover such events
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the school facility

260-Day Employee; Hours 545am-3pm

Acts 34, 114, and 151 clearances are requirements for employment and must be presented prior to starting.

Physical and TB test are also required prior to beginning employment.
