Job summary

Decatur Public Schools is seeking a certified secondary teacher for 7th-8th Grade ELA/Science in an alternative education setting. The position reports to the Secondary Building Principal and involves teaching in compliance with state and district curricular requirements.

The role includes collaboration with parents and staff, ongoing professional development, and active participation in curriculum and policy processes within the district. ASAP start, annual evaluation per district policy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree
• Illinois State certificate in the teaching field qualifying the teacher to teach at the secondary level.
• Ability to function effectively as a member of the school staff.
• Such other requirements as the Board may establish.

Responsibilities

• Instructional Delivery with pacing, questioning, and active student involvement.
• Classroom Management and maintaining a productive learning environment.
• Planning goals and objectives based on student needs and learning styles.
• Evaluation of students and programs with records maintenance.
• Participation in curriculum development and policy review as required.
• Supervise and mentor students, student teachers, and volunteers.
