Job summary

YES Prep Public Schools in Houston is hiring a part-time, temporary Coach to organize practices and games, and monitor the academic progress of student athletes. The role is a non-exempt, hourly position with a 26–27 academic year schedule.

You will issue and collect uniforms, provide early orientation to the program, and communicate with coaches and the athletic director about athlete progression. Academics remain the priority.

Qualifications

• 0–3 years coaching experience required.
• Strong knowledge of the sport, rules and terminology.
• Must have CPR and AED certification or be able to obtain it within required time.

Responsibilities

• Organizing practices and games.
• Monitoring student athletes' academic progress.
• Issuing and collecting uniforms.
• Providing orientation of a sound program to athletes.
• Communicating with coaches and the athletic director about progression.
• Prioritizing academics over athletics.
• Being on time to all scheduled athletic events.
• Practicing with a plan and purpose.
• Training student-athletes to reach peak physical condition.
• Putting the team first; the individual second.
• Staying with the team until the last athlete and guardians.
• Collecting athlete documents to remain compliant with state and YES Prep policies.
• Additional duties as assigned.
