Job Purpose
To join a team dedicated to student greatness. As a Middle/HS Science Teacher, you will create and implement a flexible program and classroom environment favorable to student learning and personal growth. You will develop lesson plans consistent with established guidelines and maintain accurate student records.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement instructional programs that align with the company's philosophy and objectives.
- Develop purposeful lesson plans that maximize teaching strategies and time on task.
- Present subject matter and provide real‑world, application‑based examples.
- Review student records to assess abilities, needs, and progress; maintain accurate records.
- Maximize educational achievement for each student.
- Use a variety of learning modalities and differentiated instruction in each lesson.
- Conduct frequent diagnostic assessments and interpret results.
- Generate progress reports and refer students with learning problems to support personnel.
- Assign lessons, correct work, and review oral presentations.
- Coordinate class field trips as required.
- Prepare students for state‑required achievement assessments.
- Stay current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory; share knowledge for curriculum improvement.
- Assist in curriculum revision and selection of instructional materials.
- Become acquainted with supplemental services beneficial to students.
Provide a Classroom Environment Conducive to Learning
- Create a learning environment appropriate to students' maturity and interests.
- Maintain positive rapport, patience, and nurturing to aid growth.
- Ensure classroom is clean, safe, and displays student work.
- Implement policies governing student conduct and develop reasonable rules.
Instructional Planning
- Create lesson plans consistent with guidelines and goals.
- Plan individual and group activities to meet instructional objectives and student needs.
- Prepare for assigned classes and provide evidence of preparation upon request.
- Collaborate with staff on curriculum planning during meetings.
- Incorporate diagnostic information from IEPs as required.
- Take precautions to protect supplies, equipment, materials, and facilities.
School/Community Relations
- Establish cooperative relations with parents and guardians.
- Communicate clearly, consistently, and positively with parents via appropriate mediums.
- Cooperate with administration and staff and uphold confidentiality of student records.
- Participate in parent communication and extracurricular activities as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (BA) from an accredited institution or equivalent.
- Valid teaching certification (as appropriate).
- One to three years of successful teaching experience (including internship).
- Command of grade/subject content and learning theory.
- Commitment to company values.
- Successful criminal and employment background check.
- Effective instructional delivery techniques and excellent communication skills.
- Adherence to the Code of Ethics for the Education Profession.
- Other duties as assigned.
