Job Purpose
As a Middle/HS Permanent Substitute, you will enable students to pursue their education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of the regular teacher.
How You Will Impact Education
- Teaching and Content Delivery
- Review the teacher’s plan and schedule with the principal, supervisor, or designated teacher.
- Teach the lessons prepared by the absent teacher.
- Report in writing the day’s activities and provide feedback as requested by the building principal.
- Follow all school and CSUSA policies, rules, and procedures applicable to regular teachers.
- Consult with the principal or supervisor before initiating any lesson or procedure not in the teacher’s plan.
- Student Management
- Maintain established classroom routines and procedures.
- Oversee pupil behavior and ensure appropriate student behavior at all times.
- School/Community Relations
- Maintain good relations with district faculty and staff.
- Treat student and staff information with utmost confidence.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Demonstrated enthusiasm and commitment toward the role and the company’s mission.
- Strong communication skills (oral, written, active listening).
- Time management skills: prioritizing, organizing, scheduling.
- Basic computer skills: Windows (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to interact with staff and individuals at all levels of the organization.
Job Requirements
- BS/BA degree or equivalent experience.
- Completion of a district substitute workshop.
- Commitment to company values.
- Relevant alternatives as determined by CSUSA.
Work Environment
- Usual school working conditions, potentially noisy during high student traffic.
Physical Demands
- No physical exertion required.
- Light work: exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally, 10 pounds as needed.
- Somewhat stressful due to frequent student activity.
