Job summary

Whitmore Lake Public Schools is seeking a Registered Behavior Technician to provide direct ABA services to students at Whitmore Lake Middle & High School. The role operates under supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and the building administrator to help students progress toward individualized goals.

The ideal candidate will hold an RBT certification, have experience with students in special education, and demonstrate strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Must have reliable communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with students in special education preferred.
• RBT certification required at time of employment.
• Willingness to receive Crisis Prevention Institute training.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct ABA services to students in classrooms and school settings.
• Follow individualized education programs and behavior intervention plans.
• Collect and interpret data on student behavior and progress.
• Assist BCBA with assessments and skill-acquisition plans.
• Meet regularly with BCBA for supervision and program review.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to support inclusion.
• Communicate progress with staff and families as directed.
• Prepare materials and maintain a safe learning environment.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow district policies.
• Attend required training to maintain certification and knowledge.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

SALARY and FTE:

Starting at $20.00/hr, increasing with experience

Full-time position, Monday-Friday during school year, 7:30 am- 3:00 pm

This is a Whitmore Lake Public Schools position funded through a service agreement with the Washtenaw Intermediate School District.

WHAT WE NEED:

A caring, dependable professional who can provide direct behavior support to students using Applied Behavior Analysis principles. The Registered Behavior Technician will work under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and building administrator to help students build skills, reduce barriers to learning and make progress toward individualized goals.

WHAT YOU NEED:

• A high school diploma or equivalent and one of the following:
  • an associate or bachelor's degree or
  • at least 60 semester hours from an approved postsecondary institution, or
  • a passing score on the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification Basic Skills or ETS ParaPro Assessment.
• Current Registered Behavior Technician certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board
• Experience working with students receiving special education services; experience with Applied Behavior Analysis is preferred
• Crisis Prevention Institute training, or willingness to be trained
• Ability to understand and implement behavior intervention plans and individualized education program goals and objectives
• Strong communication, organization, time-management and teamwork skills.
• Ability to accept feedback and build skills through ongoing coaching and professional development
• Regular, reliable and predictable attendance

IN THIS ROLE, YOU’LL:

• Provide direct services to students in classroom and school settings using intensive teaching and natural-environment strategies.
• Follow student behavior intervention plans and individualized education programs.
• Collect, record and interpret objective data on observable student behavior and progress.
• Assist the Board Certified Behavior Analyst with assessments, skill-acquisition plans and behavior-reduction protocols, as directed.
• Meet regularly with the Board Certified Behavior Analyst for supervision, coaching and program review.
• Work with teachers, support staff and individualized education program teams to support student success and inclusion.
• Communicate professionally with staff and families about student progress, as directed.
• Prepare student materials and help maintain a clean, safe and organized learning environment.
• Protect student confidentiality and follow district policies, procedures and professional ethics requirements.
• Attend required training and maintain the technical knowledge and certification needed for the position.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Frequent reaching, pushing, pulling, and grasping to interact with children and maintain classroom environment

• Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions during recess, arrival, and dismissal
