SALARY and FTE:

Starting at $20.00/hr, increasing with experience

Full-time position, Monday-Friday during school year, 7:30 am- 3:00 pm

This is a Whitmore Lake Public Schools position funded through a service agreement with the Washtenaw Intermediate School District.

WHAT WE NEED:

A caring, dependable professional who can provide direct behavior support to students using Applied Behavior Analysis principles. The Registered Behavior Technician will work under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and building administrator to help students build skills, reduce barriers to learning and make progress toward individualized goals.

WHAT YOU NEED:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent and one of the following:
    • an associate or bachelor's degree or
    • at least 60 semester hours from an approved postsecondary institution, or
    • a passing score on the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification Basic Skills or ETS ParaPro Assessment.
  • Current Registered Behavior Technician certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board
  • Experience working with students receiving special education services; experience with Applied Behavior Analysis is preferred
  • Crisis Prevention Institute training, or willingness to be trained
  • Ability to understand and implement behavior intervention plans and individualized education program goals and objectives
  • Strong communication, organization, time-management and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to accept feedback and build skills through ongoing coaching and professional development
  • Regular, reliable and predictable attendance
IN THIS ROLE, YOU’LL:
  • Provide direct services to students in classroom and school settings using intensive teaching and natural-environment strategies.
  • Follow student behavior intervention plans and individualized education programs.
  • Collect, record and interpret objective data on observable student behavior and progress.
  • Assist the Board Certified Behavior Analyst with assessments, skill-acquisition plans and behavior-reduction protocols, as directed.
  • Meet regularly with the Board Certified Behavior Analyst for supervision, coaching and program review.
  • Work with teachers, support staff and individualized education program teams to support student success and inclusion.
  • Communicate professionally with staff and families about student progress, as directed.
  • Prepare student materials and help maintain a clean, safe and organized learning environment.
  • Protect student confidentiality and follow district policies, procedures and professional ethics requirements.
  • Attend required training and maintain the technical knowledge and certification needed for the position.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Frequent reaching, pushing, pulling, and grasping to interact with children and maintain classroom environment

  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions during recess, arrival, and dismissal
