JX Enterprises, Inc. is seeking a Mid Shift Service Technician/Diesel Mechanic in Appleton, WI. The role focuses on inspections, diagnostics, and repairs to keep customer fleets moving, with a 12:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. shift and a 15% premium for off-hours and weekends.

Ideal candidates have either entry-level experience with automotive repair or 2+ years in diesel truck maintenance, plus a diesel-focused training or technical school. CDL is preferred or obtainable.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • For entry level, some experience in automotive repair or heavy-duty truck maintenance is required.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn are required.
  • Valid driver’s license is required; CDL preferred, or the ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests to assess maintenance needs.
  • Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion standards.
  • Corrects vehicle deficiencies by repairing major assemblies and components.
  • Evaluates service and parts options to contain costs.
  • Performs winterization procedures to prolong vehicle lifespan.
  • Maintains vehicle records of services and repairs.
  • Stays updated on regulations and standards through ongoing education and training.
  • Adheres to safety protocols to ensure wellbeing of all.
  • Collaborates with team and leadership to deliver positive customer experiences.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

The Opportunity (Job Purpose):Are you ready to make a visible impact? As our next Service Technician, you will play a crucial role in keeping the customer's fleet moving. We are looking for an energetic, solutions-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and is eager to grow with us.

Hours: Monday-Friday, 12:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Compensation: $20.00 - $42.00 (Depending on Experience)

Shift Premium: Any work performed/hours worked Monday - Friday, 5:00 pm - 5:59 am and/or any hours worked on weekends (Saturday/Sunday) will be paid a shift differential of 15% of your base wage.

What You’ll Do Day-to-Day (Essential Duties & Responsibilities):

  • Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests to ensure accurate assessments of maintenance needs.
  • Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards, adhering to regulatory obligations.
  • Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, or parts, showcasing innovative problem-solving skills and techniques.
  • Evaluates service and parts options to contain costs, demonstrating adaptability and resourcefulness in finding effective solutions.
  • Controls corrosion and completes winterization procedures to prolong the lifespan of vehicles and ensure responsible use of resources.
  • Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs, facilitating transparency and accountability in customer interactions.
  • Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by staying updated on regulations and standards through ongoing education and training.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations, ensuring the safety and well-being of yourself, colleagues, and customers.
  • Collaborate closely with team members and leadership to continuously cultivate positive experiences for our customers.
  • Perform other dynamic duties and responsibilities as assigned to support business

Physical and Mental Demands: The employee is frequently required to bend, squat, kneel, and crawl/lay on back; reach away from body or shoulder height; climb or balance; lift up to 75 pounds; push or pull; working in areas with fumes or airborne particles; vibration.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • For entry level, some previous experience in automotive repair or heavy-duty truck maintenance is required.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn required.
  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred, or ability to obtain.
  • Dependable and reliable attendance required.
  • For an experienced level, one must have completed a diesel-focused technical school program and 2+ years of experience in maintenance and repair of commercial trucks, including engine diagnostics. Equivalent experience and formal education will be considered.
