Job summary

FreshPoint, Inc. is seeking a CDL A driver for night routes and cross-dock operations serving customers in and around Hartford, CT. You will backhaul, load sometimes, and deliver according to the schedule set by the Transportation Department Manager.

Applicants should have at least 1 year of route delivery experience, a safety-first mindset, and be comfortable early-morning starts. A strong English reading/speaking ability is required, with a valid Class A CDL.

Qualifications

• One year route delivery experience or equivalent driving background.
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License – Class A.
• Ability to read and speak English sufficiently for daily operations and reports.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical, customer relations, and personnel management for major programs and projects.
• Runs routes efficiently, meeting or exceeding designated route times.
• May lift up to 75 pounds and assist with loading pallets as needed.
• Verify deliveries, obtain signatures, and communicate discrepancies to management.
• Report shorts and handle customer complaints professionally.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections per DOT and company policy.

Job Summary

All backhaul drivers run routes with one or more stops and are required to deliver them as assigned in the order they are designated by the Transportation Department Manager. The candidate will operate successfully in a cross-dock model picking up a loaded truck from the OPCO (operating company) nightly and driving during the night and day to our customers. The driver may be required to assist occasionally with loading-trucks, palletizing product, and performing other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical, customer relations, and personnel management for major programs and projects.
• Runs routes efficiently, meeting or exceeding designated route times.
• On occasions may require lifting, pushing, or moving and delivering a product that weighs 1-75 pounds, up to 100 pounds
• Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures. Contact management for authorization when discrepancies on invoice and communicate all errors/returns.
• Calls in when a customer does not receive their entire order (shorts)
• Handles any customer complaints professionally
• Handles company equipment properly, follow written driver safety rules, and performs a pre-trip inspection.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip responsibilities in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and Sysco policies and procedures

Qualifications

Education

• High School or GED or equivalent

Experience

• One year route delivery experience or applicable background driving a tractor and trailer.
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License – Class A
• Commercial Vehicle Drivers must have the ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.

Physical Demands

• Frequent lifting of the product up to 50 lbs. during the shift, infrequent lifting to 80 lbs.
