Recognized by the LA Times as a Top Law Firm and consistently ranked among the Top 25 Labor & Employment practices in the state, our client is looking for a seasoned litigator to join their Costa Mesa office.

This is a strategic hire for an attorney with 4–7 years of experience who is ready to transition from a supporting role into a lead‑associate capacity. You will manage complex portfolios, mentor junior talent, and work directly with partners in a high‑stakes, highly collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Independently manage a diverse caseload of employment and business litigation matters from inception through resolution or trial.

  • Orchestrate and execute comprehensive discovery strategies, including taking and defending key depositions of plaintiffs, witnesses, and 30(b)(6) representatives.

  • Draft and argue dispositive motions, including Summary Judgment and Demurrers, in both state and federal courts.

  • Lead the defense against administrative charges before the EEOC, CRD/DFEH, and DLSE, including attending mediations and fact‑finding conferences.

  • Act as a primary point of contact for sophisticated clients, providing proactive counseling on workplace policies, employee handbooks, and compliance with evolving CA labor laws.

  • Take a lead role in trial preparation, including drafting motions in limine, trial briefs, and preparing experts for testimony.

  • Provide guidance and work‑product oversight to junior associates and paralegals to ensure technical excellence across the team.

Candidate Requirements:
  • 4–7 years of sophisticated civil litigation experience, with a heavy emphasis or dedicated focus on California Labor & Employment Law.

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active, good‑standing membership with the California State Bar.

  • Proven ability to handle depositions and court appearances independently. Exceptional legal writing and analytical skills are non‑negotiable.

  • A "client‑first" mentality with the ability to navigate complex legal nuances with confidence and poise.

  • Comfort with a 1,900 billable hour expectation, supported by a highly efficient administrative and paralegal team.

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Compensation Range: $185,000 – $230,000 (commensurate with experience and book of business, if applicable).

  • Significant year‑end discretionary bonus potential based on merit and hours.

  • 401(k) plan with a generous annual employer contribution.

  • Comprehensive Medical (HMO/PPO), Dental, and Vision coverage (including dependent and domestic partner coverage).

  • Firm‑paid Life, Long‑Term Disability (LTD), and Long‑Term Care options.

  • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), employee well‑being initiatives (EAP), and monthly travel/parking allowances.

  • Monthly firm events, holiday commemorations, and a robust in‑house professional development program.
