Job summary

Onward Technologies in Auburn Hills, MI is seeking a Transmission Controls Engineer – Intermediate to join our powertrain controls team. You will work with systems, calibration, and hardware groups to define requirements and validate designs across a multi-disciplinary environment.

The role emphasizes strong communication, DFMEA awareness, and hands-on testing using MATLAB/Simulink and CAN/LIN tools. Collaboration with suppliers and program management is expected for successful project delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years in automotive powertrain controls development.
  • Experience with MATLAB Simulink/Stateflow modeling.
  • Experience communicating technical information across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with systems, calibration, and hardware teams to develop requirements.
  • Review VF requirements/DBC after releases and create DVPs.
  • Lead design change requests and participate in CCB reviews.
  • Perform root-cause triage for transmission-related issues and track resolutions.
  • Prepare and present slides for Platform and Director meetings.
  • Conduct weekly controls meetings to discuss implementations and issues.
  • Develop testing/validation plans including in-vehicle and HIL testing.
  • Support SBW & TCM_EE section sets in PowerCal management.
