Mid-Level or Senior-Level Project Engineer – Elmendorf, TX

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is actively seeking a Mid-Level or Senior-Level Project Engineer to join our Building & Construction team in Elmendorf, TX. The role focuses on code compliance evaluations and supporting clients through all stages of product development, testing, and certification.

Shift/Schedule: Monday‑Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (travel at least 25% of the time)

What you’ll do:

• Develop in‑depth knowledge of building codes and related product standards through research, review, and laboratory witnessing.
• Assume responsibility for projects, establish client commitments, and ensure follow‑through.
• Assist Sales Team with scope determination for quoting purposes.
• Review and understand contract requirements, documenting any deviations.
• Lead project kick‑off meetings with clients, develop milestones and commitment dates.
• Communicate directly with clients on project status, required information, and completion dates.
• Coordinate regularly with the testing laboratory to ensure smooth client transitions between tasks.
• Conduct off‑site, in‑person audits at manufacturing facilities, lead the audit, communicate requirements, and document all phases of production and quality control.
• Develop detailed audit reports and factory audit manuals.
• Peer‑review factory audit manuals completed by others.
• Travel domestically and internationally to various manufacturing locations as business needs dictate.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

• B.S. degree in engineering or a closely related physical science field.
• Technical competence to effectively communicate test procedures, specifications, and results with customers.
• Strong diplomacy skills for working with clients on technically challenging compliance issues.
• Ability to work individually and within a team.
• Excellent research, documentation, record‑keeping, and technical writing skills.
• Ability to understand and apply new test methods and procedures for assigned projects.
• Expected to travel as business needs dictate.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record (required).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Passing of Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE) or Engineer‑in‑Training (E.I.T) designation.
• Knowledge of construction material characteristics and applications, manufacturing techniques, supply sources, and engineering principles.
• Knowledge of U.S. Building Codes, applicable fire standards, building design and construction, and modern construction materials and methods.
