ACTIVE SECURITY CLEARANCE AT THE TS/SCI POLYGRAPH LEVEL IS REQUIRED
We are looking for an experienced, proactive Mid-Level Systems Engineer (Level 2) to join our growing engineering team in Annapolis Junction, MD. In this role, you will take hands-on ownership of core systems engineering activities across the entire lifecycle-translating complex operational needs into clear requirements, designing system architectures, and coordinating cross-discipline integration efforts. You will serve as a vital link between development teams, operational users, and government stakeholders to ensure system baselines remain robust, secure, and fully aligned with mission goals.
The annual base salary range for this role is $171,000-$202,000 (USD), which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
Required Skills
- Systems Architecture & Standards: Experience implementing architectures within established frameworks - including Operational, Technical Standards, and Systems/Services views
- Requirements & Lifecycle Engineering: Demonstrated capability managing, deriving, allocating, and tracing functional and non-functional requirements down to hardware, software, facility, and personnel components.
- Configuration & Risk Management: Experience supporting Configuration Control Boards (CCB), conducting trade studies, managing baseline stability throughout the lifecycle, and executing risk assessments in line with risk management plans.
- Interface & Integration Control: Ability to define, document, and manage system and component interfaces using standard Interface Control Documents (ICD) and centralized interface repositories.
- Information Assurance & Governance: Understanding of derived IA requirements (Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability, Authentication, Access Control) and experience supporting DoD Certification & Accreditation (C&A) and JCIDS document development (ICD, CDD, IA Strategy).
- Technical Communication: Strong skills in authoring System Engineering Plans (SEP), functional specifications, operational scenarios (threads), and timeline analyses, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to project teams and government overseers.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, or Engineering Management, PLUS 14+ years of professional systems engineering experience on programs of similar scope and complexity
- High School Diploma / GED, PLUS 19+ years of hands-on technical systems engineering and architecture experience in lieu of a degree
Desired Skills
- Experience conducting quantitative non-functional analysis in performance areas such as Reliability, Maintainability, Vulnerability, and Survivability.
- Practical exposure to process and error budget allocations for real-time processing systems.
- Background participating in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and coordinating action item resolutions across cross-functional engineering disciplines.
