Job summary

SCCI is seeking a mid-level Database Developer to design and implement a cohesive data ontology across diverse projects in Dahlgren, VA. You will work with architects, data engineers, and stakeholders to normalize and map datasets for analytics and interoperability.

Responsibilities include data modeling, ETL/ELT development, and cross-system data alignment, with a focus on scalable, well-documented data solutions. Requires US citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain an active Secret Security Clearance.
• BS degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or Math, or 5 years of related experience in lieu of degree.
• 3-6 years of database development experience.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and relational database design (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL).
• Experience designing normalized schemas and tradeoffs with denormalization.
• Familiarity with semi-structured data (JSON, XML, document stores).
• Experience with ETL/ELT processes and data transformation pipelines.
• Solid data modeling concepts (ER diagrams, dimensional modeling).
• Ability to translate business concepts into structured data representations.

Responsibilities

• Database Design & Modeling: design, implement, and maintain relational and non-relational schemas.
• Enterprise Data Ontology Development: contribute to enterprise-wide data architecture and mappings.
• Structured & Unstructured Data Integration: analyze and structure unstructured data and pipelines.
• Data Transformation & ETL Support: build ETL/ELT pipelines and ensure data integrity.
• Cross-System Data Alignment: reconcile differences across project teams and standardize data.
• Performance & Optimization: tune queries, indexes, and configurations for performance.
• Documentation & Governance: maintain schemas, mappings, and data governance practices.
