Job summary

Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. in Kansas is seeking a Customer Quality Representative to coordinate non-conformances with customers, present data in meetings, and ensure quality is built into processes.

This role collaborates with engineering and manufacturing teams to drive robust corrective actions and long-range inspection plans. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in quality, works with drawings and customer specs, and is proficient in MS Office.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a quality discipline, preferably in inspection, aerospace, or manufacturing.

  • MS Office (PowerPoint & Excel) experience

Responsibilities

  • Represent Spirit as a customer quality representative (CQS). Coordinate non-conformances with the customer and provide visibility.
  • Collaborate with management on aircraft structure repairs identified by Engineering as significant (SRL).
  • Review all non-conformances that may be sensitive (CSI) to the customer and end user.
  • Attend, interface and present data during customer meetings.
  • Apply knowledge of quality policies and governmental regulations to develop and administer long-range inspection plans.
  • Plan and coordinate improvements in manufacturing, including tool acceptance and supplier development.
  • Perform design reviews to ensure quality is engineered into the product and tool.
  • Analyze contract requirements to develop plans for applying quality disciplines to processes.
  • Perform configuration audits and reviews of products, tools, and processes.
  • Measure and analyze process capability data and perform trend analyses and risk assessments.
  • Lead root cause analysis to plan process improvements.
  • Ensure sequenced inspection control points and maintain inspection accountability systems.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement preventative measures and corrective actions.
  • Provide education and coaching on the Quality Management System and Manufacturing Verification Process.

This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units(“Spirit Commercial”). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminium manufacturing solutions.

Position Responsibilities
  • Represent Spirit as a customer quality representative (CQS). Coordinate non-conformances with the customer and provide visibility.
  • Collaborate with all levels of management on aircraft structure repairs identified by Engineering as significant (SRL).
  • Review all non-conformances that may be sensitive (CSI) to the customer and end user.
  • Ability to attend, interface and present data during customer meetings.
  • Apply knowledge of quality policies and governmental regulations to develop and administer long-range customer inspection plans, acting as agent/designee for customer, to meet contractual and other requirements.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate improvements in manufacturing (e.g., hardware and tool acceptance, variability reduction, developing key suppliers, and assembly operations, etc.).
  • Ability to perform design reviews to ensure that quality is engineered into the product and tool.
  • Apply knowledge of engineering (e.g., manufacturing, tooling, quality, and statistics, etc.) to analyze requirements of contracts, drawings, and specifications to develop plans for the application of quality disciplines to processes.
  • Ability to perform configuration audits and reviews of products, tools, and processes.
  • Ability to compile, measure and analyze process capability data, models to perform trend analyses and risk assessments.
  • Skill in process improvement methodologies (i.e., root cause analysis) to plan and coordinate process improvements.
  • Ability to ensure sequenced inspection control points, create and maintain inspection accountability systems.
  • Ability to identify, evaluate, and implement preventative measures, corrective action, procedural changes, process improvements and present resultant findings.
  • Provide education and coaching on the Quality Management System and Manufacturing Verification Process.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in a quality discipline, preferably in inspection, aerospace, or manufacturing
  • Working with engineering drawings and customer specification
  • MS Office (power point & excel) experience
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail·
  • Quality inspection helpful but not required
  • Leadership experience helpful
  • Experienced desired with MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems)
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and team-based environment
  • Ability to prioritize requests from multiple sources and support requirements
  • Self-motivated; taking ownership of projects and issues, including follow through to closure and resolution
  • Great attitude and willingness to learn
