Overview

Carollo Engineers is an internationally recognized environmental engineering firm specializing in the planning, design, and construction of water, wastewater, stormwater, and reuse facilities. We are seeking a Mid-Level Civil/Environmental Engineer.

As part of our team, you will work on projects related to municipal water and wastewater treatment plants, distribution and collection systems, and pumping facilities. This includes master planning, asset management, condition assessments, infrastructure improvements, water quality studies, treatment plant rehabilitation and expansions, and critical water reuse projects that promote sustainable and resilient water supplies.

Responsibilities

• Perform civil engineering work related to water and wastewater treatment facilities and conveyance infrastructure.
• Engage in engineering planning and design projects, including conceptual and preliminary design activities such as site visits, overseeing fieldwork, alternatives analysis, and report preparation.
• Develop civil engineering plans and specifications.
• Prepare cost estimates for water and wastewater projects.
• Generate technical memoranda, reports, and electronic deliverables.
• Assist in coordinating work with sub-consultants.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, designers, modelers, technicians, and team members on specific assignments.
• Review contractor submittals for compliance with plans and specifications and evaluate RFI requests during construction.
• Participate in field activities such as pilot testing.
• Handle permitting and conduct alternative analyses.
• Support project managers with permitting submissions for treatment facilities and infrastructure projects, coordinating with governmental agencies.
• Participate in field activities and site reconnaissance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field.
• 6 to 12 years of relevant experience in water and wastewater engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
• Strong application of engineering principles, including critical thinking, analysis, and innovative techniques.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for client and team interactions.
• Ability to work well within a team environment.
• Highly motivated, articulate, and self-starting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field.
• Active participation in professional associations.
