Job summary

Neel-Schaffer, Inc. is seeking a Mid-Level CEI Inspector to join our Nashville-area team. This role involves field and office inspection work on road and bridge projects, with independence in inspecting asphalt laydown, grading, and concrete tasks.

Travel may be required as project locations change. Qualified candidates will have 3–5 years of CEI experience, strong organization and communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of experience in Construction Engineering and Inspection on road and/or bridge transportation construction projects is preferred.
• Good organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Travel may be required.
• Basic computer skills are required; including knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

• Inspect specific parts of contract work, such as asphalt laydown operations, grading, or concrete inspection.

Mid-Level CEI Inspector

We are looking for a Mid-Level CEI Inspector to join our growing engineering firm based in Nashville (TN) or the surrounding area. Travel may be required on a temporary basis as project locations change.

This position involves skilled sub‑professional engineering work in the field and office. The Mid-Level CEI Inspector will act independently in providing inspection of specific parts of contract work, such as asphalt laydown operations, grading, or concrete inspection. The Mid-Level CEI Inspector may assist other inspectors on larger projects in performing specific inspection tasks.

Education and/or Experience

• Three to five years of experience in Construction Engineering and Inspection on road and/or bridge transportation construction projects is preferred.
• Good organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Travel may be required.
• Basic computer skills are required; including knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

• TDOT HMA Certified Roadway Inspector.
• Asphalt Plant Technician.
• Work Zone Traffic Control/Flagging.
• 10 HR OSHA Construction Safety.
• TDOT Radiation Safety & Nuclear Guage.
• TDOT Soils & Aggregate Technician.
• TDOT Concrete Technician / ACI Grade 1.
• Certified Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Inspector (EPSC).
