Job Description

We are representing a top-tier global law firm seeking a mid-level Associate to join its Capital Markets & Derivatives team in New York City. In this role, you will work closely with leading financial institutions, funds, and corporate clients on complex derivatives transactions. The successful candidate will gain significant hands‑on experience across a range of sophisticated transactions, including interest rate, currency, commodity derivatives, and other structured products. Responsibilities
  • Represent financial institutions, funds, and corporate clients in the structuring, development, negotiation, and documentation of derivatives products, including interest rate, currency, commodity, and equity derivatives.
  • Advise on complex derivatives transactions such as total return swaps, equity derivatives, repo, and securities lending transactions.
  • Provide legal guidance on the regulatory aspects of derivatives, including compliance with Dodd‑Frank, the Commodity Exchange Act, CFTC, SEC, and prudential regulations.
  • Advise on the hedging component of cross‑border projects and corporate financing transactions, including renewable energy and infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborate with clients on futures, clearing, and prime brokerage documentation, including related netting, margin, and regulatory issues.
  • Engage in fintech and digital asset‑related advisory work.
  • Assist in organizing client development functions and presentations in collaboration with the Business Development team.
  • Participate in recruiting, mentoring, and training junior associates.
Qualifications
  • J.D., LL.M., or U.S. equivalent in law, with at least 3 years of experience in derivatives law.
  • Proven experience representing financial institutions, funds, and corporate clients in the structuring, development, and negotiation of derivatives products (including interest rate, currency, commodity, equity derivatives, repo, and securities lending).
  • Strong background in advising clients on regulatory matters, particularly with the Dodd‑Frank Act, the Commodity Exchange Act, CFTC, SEC, and other relevant regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex, cross‑border derivatives transactions and corporate financing matters.
  • Experience training junior team members and managing projects from start to finish.
  • Must be admitted to the New York State Bar.
