Job description

HDR is looking for a Management Consulting Lead to join our Mid‑Atlantic Water Business Group. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of utility management advisory projects, collaborating with HDR staff across the company and teaming partners to develop solutions for our clients. The role involves pursuing, planning, managing, and delivering projects in Strategic Management and Planning; Business Process Optimization; Organizational Development; Digital Advisory; Equity, and Rates, Finance, and Funding.

Responsibilities
  • Actively lead Mid‑Atlantic management consulting services.
  • Collaborate with technical leaders, operations leaders, market sector directors, project managers, and project teams to deliver world‑class services across multiple delivery models.
  • Engage with local project teams and assist in Go/No‑Go discussions, risk assessments, SOQs, proposals, interviews, and negotiations as required.
  • Participate in client relationship management, client presentations, conference presentations, and interviews.
  • Participate in scope, schedule, and budget development for projects.
  • Provide project delivery support including planning, contract administration, technical consulting, design reviews, subcontract management, and construction services.
  • Actively participate in AWWA or WEF and related regional professional associations.
  • Mentor and develop other employees.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active engagement in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand.
  • B.S. degree in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering or a similar combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Master of Business Administration degree.
  • 15 years of water industry experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
  • Strong leadership skills and project management experience with multiple national remote teams.
  • Proven experience managing projects, client relationships, proposal development, and business development related to Strategic Management and Planning; Business Process Optimization; Organizational Development; Digital Advisory; Equity, and Rates, Finance, and Funding.
  • Self‑starter with excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Strong conceptual, organizational, problem‑solving, and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and conferencing platforms (Zoom, WebEx, Teams, etc.).
  • Familiarity with estimating and scheduling software, project management software.
  • Ability to interact with various design professionals and maintain excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Current AWWA or WEF and related regional professional association involvement.
  • Local candidates preferred.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field.
  • 10 years of experience.
  • Committed to quality, improvement, and HDR values.
  • Maintains a professional or engineering registration and has related technical experience.
  • Experienced in development and management of diverse teams.
  • Works cooperatively with other area business class leaders, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers on business class efforts.
