Job summary

Newton Scientific, a Rigaku subsidiary, is seeking a detail-oriented technician to support the manufacture of precision electro-mechanical products in Charlestown, MA.

You will perform hand soldering, assemble subassemblies under a microscope, inspect quality, and document results. Training will be provided, and successful candidates will work with experienced technicians on a Monday–Friday schedule. The role offers competitive hourly pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1-3 years of assembly experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong fine-motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
• Excellent hand soldering skills.
• Ability to perform soldering and spot welding under a microscope.
• Strong attention to detail, patience, and concentration.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.
• Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Perform precision hand soldering, including through-hole and surface-mount work.
• Position, align, and assemble miniature parts under a microscope.
• Spot weld very fine wires and small components under magnification.
• Build electro-mechanical products, subassemblies, and wiring according to work instructions, drawings, and specifications.
• Inspect work for alignment, solder or weld quality, cleanliness, completeness, and workmanship.
• Handle delicate components carefully to prevent damage or contamination.
• Accurately document completed work and promptly report defects, questions, or unusual conditions.
• Work under the direction of a senior technician and respond positively to training and feedback.
• Support other production activities as needed.
