Job summary

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory’s LCLS seeks a Project Scientist to lead segmented-flow microreactor development for high-throughput, time-resolved X-ray studies. You will integrate microfluidic tech into liquid-jet delivery systems and coordinate with SLAC/Stanford teams for rapid prototyping and operations.

Applicants should have a recently completed PhD in a related field, strong microfabrication experience, and the ability to travel for beamline work at SSRL/LCLS.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or Physics.
  • Demonstrated experience with microfluidics, millifluidics, and microfabrication.

Responsibilities

  • Design, fabricate, and iterate segmented-flow microreactor prototypes.
  • Build and operate the microfluidic platform with pumps, controllers, valves, and tubing.
  • Characterize droplets with high-speed imaging and quantitative analysis.
  • Run offline reaction and transport experiments and analyze data.
  • Document SOPs, safety protocols, and experimental results.
