Job summary

Ohio State University’s University Hospital Microbiology lab seeks a Microbiology Technologist to perform specimen processing and enter test requests, ensuring accurate order verification and high-quality microbiology testing for patients and community clients.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related biological science with MLS/ASCP certification within 1 year of hire.
Bachelor's degree with M (ASCP) certification and 2+ years of clinical microbiology experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

Perform specimen processing, test request entry, order entry verification and correction.
Conduct all clinical microbiology testing including smear and culture interpretation, ID and susceptibility tests.
Perform specialized testing (AFB, mycology, virology, parasitology, molecular methods) as assigned.
Participate in quality control, CQI, inventory control, and ongoing professional development.
