Responsibilities

  • Perform environmental monitoring for viable and non-viable particulates.
  • Conduct bio-burden monitoring of the facility and lab.
  • Review USP and regulatory guidances to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor and test the Purified Water System daily.
  • Perform microbiology testing for weekend/holiday coverage as needed.
  • Prepare media, dispose of wastes, and calibrate instruments.

Job Summary:The QC Microbiologist Technician performs environmental monitoring testing for viable and non viable particulates, sanitization of the DI water system, sampling the DI water for microbiological and chemical tests, and organizes the inventory of microbiology lab supplies. Maintains a working knowledge of current GMP compliant regulations for the microbiology laboratory.Job Responsibilities• Performs all work in support of our Corporate Values of Collaboration, Courage, Perseverance and Passion.• Performs all work in accordance with all established regulatory and compliance and safety requirements.• Performs bio-burden monitoring of the manufacturing facility and the microbiology laboratory for viable and non-viable particulates.• Reviews current USP and the regulatory guidances to ensure compliance with current microbiological methods and practices.• Responsible for daily monitoring and testing of the USP Purified Water System.• Responsible for microbiology testing for weekend and holiday schedules, as needed.• Performs trend analysis of microbiology test results from the DI water system and bio-burden data. Authors reports as needed.• General procedural functions include: Procures supplies for the microbiology laboratory; Performs and monitors housekeeping; Performs disposal of laboratory wastes, Biohazard waste and other microbiological laboratory chemicals, samples and materials; Responsible for Media preparation: sterilization of waste and glassware, instrument calibration/maintenance/daily monitoring, and quarterly inventory report.• Follows strict "good documentation practices" per company's SOP’s and cGMP regulations.• Adheres to safety rules and awareness, demonstrates good safety practices at all times, takes initiative to report and correct safety hazards. Uses Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) associated with assigned tasks.• The nature of the QC laboratory requires that individuals are interested and motivated to participate in a team working concept. The Microbiologist Technician must routinely interact with various company departments and therefore good interpersonal skills are necessary to effectively perform the job function.• Works as a member of a team to achieve all outcomes• Operates in accordance with our Code of Conduct and Business Ethics, and all established regulatory, compliance and safety requirements• Performs all work in support of our Values: Collaboration, Courage, Perseverance, and Passion• All other relevant duties as assignedJob Requirements• Educationo Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in a scientific discipline or equivalent• Knowledge, Skills and Abilitieso Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical data, specifications, standard operating procedures, and standard testing procedures.o Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as standard deviation, average, etc.o Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions. Must be highly organized and able to schedule, prioritize and execute activities.o Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.• Experienceo Zero to three (0-3) years laboratory (preferably microbiology) experience
