Job summary

Vanguard Laboratory in Olympia, WA, is seeking a dependable Microbiologist with hands-on laboratory experience to join our ISO/IEC 17025 accredited facility. You will perform routine microbiological testing across food, water, and environmental samples, and contribute to method development and validation.

The role requires strict aseptic technique, accurate documentation, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with a small team to expand our accredited testing capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in microbiology or a related scientific field or equivalent laboratory experience.
• Hands-on experience in a microbiology laboratory.
• Strong understanding of microbiological principles and aseptic technique.
• Good documentation practices with traceability.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine microbiological testing across food, water, environmental, and pharmaceutical samples.
• Maintain proper aseptic techniques and contamination-control practices.
• Prepare media, reagents, standards, controls, and lab supplies.
• Follow FDA BAM, USP, Standard Methods, and in-house procedures.
• Document calculations, observations, controls, and final results with accuracy.
