Job summary

System One, Hershey, PA, is seeking a Microbiology Lab Tech for a contract role onsite. You will prepare media, perform microbiological analyses of foods and environmental samples, and support routine testing.

Ideal candidates hold a B.S. in Microbiology or related field with 2–3 years of food microbiology experience. Strong record keeping for autoclave and sample handling is essential; 40-hour weeks on-site.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain microbiological media for in-house food testing.
• Maintain inventory of media and supplies to support testing.
• Coordinate destruction of samples after results entry.
• Maintain autoclave records related to preparation and destruction of routine analysis.
• Support food product sample receiving and analyses.
• Microbiological analyses of food ingredients, finished product, and environmental swabs.
• Plating for hygiene indicators and molecular testing for food borne pathogens.
• Assist in sample preparation and receiving as needed.
• Microbiological data interpretation and review.

• Maintain an inventory and well stocked supply of prepared and commercially available microbiological media formats to support testing
• Coordinate the destruction of samples after results entry
• Maintain autoclave records related to the preparation and destruction of routine analysis
• Support food product sample receiving, analyses
• Microbiological analyses of food ingredients, finished product, and environmental swabs
• Plating for hygiene indicators and molecular testing for food borne pathogens
• Assist in sample preparation and receiving as needed
• Microbiological data interpretation and review

Requirements

• B.S. in Microbiology, Food Science, Biology or related field; and 2-3 years food microbiology testing experience.
