Job summary

SGS is seeking a part-time Microbiologist in Oklahoma City, OK. The role involves handling samples and performing analyses per SOPs, maintaining equipment, and recording quality activities. Knowledge of lab methods and safety expectations is required.

The position supports shifts on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays, with 20-24 hours per week and early start times. Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or equivalent lab experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintains records of all quality activities as documented in Operating Procedures and test methods.
• Identifies and records nonconformities on Corrective Action Requests.

Job Description

This job operates in a lab environment with equipment such as analytical balances, food homogenization equipment, pipetting tools, incubators, water baths, plate readers, various commercial protein and DNA based technologies for food pathogen detection (VIDAS, BAX, GDS, GeneUp, BioRAd), spectrophotometer, VITEK Microbial Identification System, basic wet chemistry equipment for analysis of moisture, protein, fat, ash, salt.

• Handles samples and performs analyses according to Operating Procedures and test methodology
• Maintains and verifies equipment
• Reports deficiencies or malfunction to the supervisor
• Maintains records of all quality activities as documented in Operating Procedures and test methods
• Identifies and records nonconformities on Corrective Action Requests

PART-TIME WORK SCHEDULE HOURS

• Work schedule: Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday
• Expected hours: 20-24 hours per week
• Shifts will vary based on business needs and may start as early as 7:30 AM
• Employees can expect to work 6-8 hour shifts per scheduled day
• Specific start and end times will be communicated in advance and may vary from week to week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Microbiology or related field or commercial laboratory experience - Required
