Minimum Position Requirements

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma/GED/Technical or equivalent on-the-job training and experience.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Follow all safety procedures, including wearing all required personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain a safe, comfortable working environment using industrial cleaning equipment and machines while ensuring all protective functions are utilized.
  • General custodial labor.
  • Clean manufacturing areas (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, machines, etc.). Carry out heavy cleaning tasks and special projects.
  • Ability to handle equipment and machinery.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
  • Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Propose improvements and participate in problem solving using the Safety Corner Board, Continuous Improvement Suggestions, and participate in monthly Communication and Awareness initiatives.
  • Keep area clean and orderly, per 5S requirements, including aisle ways and areas around the equipment being used.
  • Perform any additional responsibilities assigned by Supervisor.
Organizational Relationships

Reports to the Tooling and Facilities Manager. Maintains regular interface with all levels of Plant Management and personnel in Ithaca.

Back-up

In the absence of an incumbent in this position, the back-up for primary duties is the responsibility of the direct reports in each functional area. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned among other qualified employees, depending on business priorities.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as general addition, subtraction, multiply and divide.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
