Job summary

Universal Health Services’ University Behavioral Health of Denton is seeking a Mental Health Technician to join the treatment team. You will provide continuous patient care and supervision under an RN, assisting adolescents through geriatrics on assigned units.

Responsibilities include vital signs, observation, and timely reporting of changes to the Charge Nurse. A CNA or RBT and CPR/De-escalation training within 30 days are required or preferred, with potential overtime and flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Degree or equivalent preferred; Certified Nursing Assistant required; Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy or appropriate therapeutic discipline preferred.
• Experience: A minimum of one year experience in psychiatric patient care preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: CNA licensure and/or RBT in the State of Texas preferred.
• Additional Requirements: CPR certification, Handle with Care and Verbal De-escalation within 30 days of employment; overtime and flexible hours may be required.

Position Summary

The Mental Health Technician functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in age from adolescents through geriatrics depending on which unit worked. MHTs work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
