Job summary

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision of professional and technical staff in pharmacy services.
• Deliver clinical and professional services, lead quality improvement efforts, stay updated on new therapeutics and delivery technology.
• Drive and monitor inventory management of pharmaceutical supplies and devices.
• Oversee documentation of electronic records and reports.

Job description

Our Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is committed to providing the highest quality clinical pharmaceutical care to children, integrating research findings into clinical practice as swiftly as possible.

Responsible for leading day to day operations for both retail and specialty pharmacy operations. Responsible for the creation, implementation and management of a comprehensive training and quality assurance program for retail and specialty pharmacy dispensing program. Responsible for developing a robust monitoring, surveillance and audit program, using as reference, relevant standards and guidelines such as the U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP), The Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC), Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC), American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists, the Tennessee Board of Pharmacy, and other state and federal regulations. Provides direct supervision of assigned staff. Work closely with Director of Outpatient Pharmacy Services to set strategy and direction that aligns with departmental and institutional strategic objectives.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide direct supervision of professional and technical staff assigned to own pharmacy services area, including direction and coordination of daily workflow.
• Provides clinical and professional services including drug information, actively leads quality improvement efforts within assigned pharmacy area, and maintains up-to-date knowledge of new therapeutics and drug delivery technology.
• Drive and monitor inventory management of pharmaceutical supplies and devices for pharmacy areas.
• Oversee systems and processes for timely and accurate documentation of electronic records and reports.
• Serves as the Specialty Pharmacy Compliance Officer and provides oversight of the Specialty Pharmacy compliance program
• Provides leadership of the Specialty Pharmacy Quality Management Program and serves as chair of the Quality Management Committee (QMC)
• Monitor compliance with regulatory and good professional practice standards related to secure and appropriate storage of all pharmaceutical supplies.
• Serve as the primary interface between own pharmacy team, internal stakeholders(e.g., clinical staff, investigators), and external stakeholders(e.g., vendors)to coordinate efficient development, planning, and implementation of necessary services.
• Provide input and direction for programmatic and fiscal planning.
• Monitor and identify bottlenecks/ changing demands within area to identify corrective actions.
• Lead definition of SOPs and policies for pharmacy area in line with emerging industry practices and monitor compliance.
• Mentor and guide team members and ensure they have all the resources required to complete their assigned tasks.
• Engage in hiring, performance management, and other people processes.
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

• Graduate of a College of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council of Pharmacy Education
• PharmD preferred

Minimum Experience:

• Eight (8) years of relevant experience
• Experience managing at least 1-2 people preferred.
• Extensive experience leading projects/processes end to end including resource planning and management, and communication and collaboration with internal cross-functional teams and external partners preferred.
• Substantial experience in a hospital pharmacy.
• Experience collaborating with peers, patients, and other health professionals.
• Significant experience with clinical pharmacy practice, medication safety, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Experience in participating in pharmacy committees and/or hospital formulary decisions, and developing medication-related policies and protocols.
• Significant experience working with comparable software systems and databases for maintenance/ review of documentation/ records.
• Proven performance in earlier role/ comparable role.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by Law:

• (LC: PHARM-TN) Licensure by the Tennessee State Board of Pharmacy required

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $125,840 - $238,160 per year for the role of Mgr -Specialty Pharmacy.
