Position Summary
Manages production operations and equipment related to the manufacturing of ink. Responsible for managing manufacturing costs, quality of materials produced, safety of plant personnel, and implementation of regulations. Administers company policies, procedures, and corporate initiatives within the department. Develops and leads staff to execute production schedules and meet customer expectations.

Essential Job Functions
Productivity
- Leads planning, organizing, and controlling of production, coordinating with other departments to meet customer requirements.
- Ensures production schedules are executed cost‑effectively, recommends process or schedule improvements, and justifies decisions.
- Initiates plans and processes that minimize manufacturing costs through effective use of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital.
- Resolves process and facility problems, preventing operational delays.
- Develops, reviews, updates, and implements production planning, including continuous improvement initiatives (Six Sigma, 5S, Lean).
- Reviews analysis of activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine progress toward company goals.
- Manages spend against budget and controls spend related to changes in production volume.
Leadership
- Leads and motivates the workforce positively and handles employee relations issues including training, counseling, discipline, and conflict resolution.
- Guides staff on standard HR practices, facility work rules, and site policies.
- Reviews achievements with direct reports and discusses required changes in strategy and work processes.
- Coordinates with other departments to align goals and objectives.
Customer Value System
- Investigates customer complaints to determine root cause and implement remedies.
- Works with team members to maintain ISO program and certification.
People Development
- Staffs and trains employees according to production needs.
- Evaluates, motivates, and coaches subordinates.
- Addresses performance issues promptly and coaches for improvement.
- Ensures plant rules and policies are administered and employee concerns addressed.
Safety
- Leads adherence to safety and housekeeping standards through example, teamwork, and accountability.
- Ensures facility compliance with company safety and regulatory policies.
- Maintains OSHA compliance program.
Other
- Maintains good communication and working relationships within site departments and externally with sales and other personnel.
Required Education and Experience
- BS in Operations Management, Business Administration, or related discipline preferred.
- Equivalent work experience of 7+ years in lieu of a degree.
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably batch manufacturing.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, identify and solve problems, meet deadlines, and stay within budget.
- Strong computer proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing, presentation software, and SAP.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing concepts.
- Conflict resolution and team development skills.
- Data‑based approach to problem solving and decision making.
- Strong math aptitude for Six Sigma methodology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
- Monday-Friday with occasional Saturday support based on customer demand.
Number of Reports
- Direct reports: 2 supervisors.
- Indirect reports: 32 hourly team members.
