Job summary

Baxter is seeking a Manager I, Engineering (Maintenance) to lead the Maintenance Organization at the Anesthesia Manufacturing Site. You will ensure reliability, availability, and performance of assets while guiding Maintenance, Reliability, Planning & Scheduling, and Warehouse teams.

You will collaborate with Operations, EHS, Quality, and Supply Chain to drive maintenance excellence and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • 8–10 years of experience in maintenance, reliability, or manufacturing environments
  • Previous leadership experience managing maintenance or engineering teams in regulated manufacturing
  • Experience with preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs
  • Experience managing Mechanical Integrity programs and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Knowledge of pressure vessels, piping, rotating equipment, and process manufacturing systems
  • Strong understanding of OSHA/EPA and applicable industrial regulations

Responsibilities

  • Lead the site's Maintenance Program (Preventive, Corrective, Predictive, Mechanical Integrity)
  • Ensure maintenance work aligns with production schedules and priorities
  • Drive equipment reliability initiatives to maximize performance and availability
  • Develop and implement Reliability and Mechanical Integrity strategies
  • Establish and monitor maintenance KPIs across the site
  • Oversee the Mechanical Integrity Program and regulatory compliance
  • Provide SME input during safety, compliance, and regulatory audits
  • Lead RCA investigations for equipment failures and maintenance issues
  • Develop maintenance plans for plant slowdowns, shutdowns, and turnarounds
  • Manage Maintenance Planning & Scheduling activities
  • Oversee Warehouse operations supporting maintenance and spare parts
  • Ensure adequate inventory levels of MRO materials and spares
  • Participate in capital budgeting and expenditure forecasts
  • Identify cost-reduction opportunities and optimize maintenance operations
  • Coordinate maintenance with stakeholders to minimize operational impact

Your Team

As the Manager I, Engineering (Maintenance), you will lead the Maintenance Organization supporting Baxter's Anesthesia Manufacturing Site. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of manufacturing assets while providing leadership and technical direction to Maintenance, Reliability, Planning & Scheduling, and Warehouse teams. Working closely with Operations, Engineering, EHS, Quality, and Supply Chain, you will drive maintenance excellence, support regulatory compliance, and implement strategies that maximize operational efficiency and equipment reliability. This role is critical to maintaining a safe, compliant, and high-performing manufacturing environment.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Lead and manage the site's Maintenance Program, including Preventive, Corrective, Predictive, and Mechanical Integrity activities.
  • Ensure maintenance activities are executed in alignment with production schedules and operational priorities.
  • Drive equipment reliability initiatives to maximize plant performance and asset availability.
  • Develop and implement Reliability and Mechanical Integrity strategies aligned with Engineering Standards and World-Class Maintenance practices.
  • Establish, monitor, and improve maintenance Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Oversee the Mechanical Integrity Program across the site.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable pressure vessel regulations.
  • Maintain documentation and records required to support regulatory compliance.
  • Provide technical expertise during safety, compliance, and regulatory audits, serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME).
  • Support internal and external audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Provide technical leadership for the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of manufacturing equipment, including: Pressure vessels Reactors Heat exchangers Pumps Piping systems Columns Scrubbers Other process equipment.
  • Lead and facilitate Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations for equipment failures and maintenance-related issues.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for Maintenance Planning & Scheduling activities.
  • Manage Warehouse operations supporting maintenance and spare parts availability.
  • Ensure proper planning, prioritization, and execution of maintenance work.
  • Develop maintenance plans related to plant slowdowns, shutdowns, and turnaround activities.
  • Ensure adequate inventory levels of Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) materials and spare parts.
  • Develop maintenance operating budgets and expenditure forecasts.
  • Participate in capital planning and budget preparation activities.
  • Monitor maintenance expenditures and identify cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Implement maintenance optimization strategies that support business objectives while maintaining safety and compliance.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of resources, tools, contractors, and equipment.
  • Oversee the execution of welding activities across the site.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable engineering, quality, and safety standards.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with stakeholders to minimize operational impact and maximize efficiency.
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline required.
  • Eight(8) to ten(10) years experience
  • Significant experience in maintenance, reliability engineering, manufacturing operations, or industrial engineering environments.
  • Previous leadership experience managing maintenance or engineering teams in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Experience managing Mechanical Integrity programs and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Experience with Mechanical Integrity programs and process equipment maintenance.
  • Understanding of OSHA, EPA, and applicable industrial regulations.
  • Knowledge of pressure vessels, piping systems, rotating equipment, and process manufacturing systems..
