Job summary

Kroger is seeking a maintenance mechanic to perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and inspections across plant equipment and facilities. You will use machine tools to fabricate parts, troubleshoot failures, and support continuous improvement initiatives to ensure Safety, Quality, Reliability (SQR) and Customer 1st outcomes.

You will operate safely, document tasks, and collaborate with teams to minimize downtime in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or desired.
• 2+ years of maintenance mechanic experience or relevant technical training/certification.
• GMP knowledge is a plus.
• Ability to work around ingredients and allergen-containing products.
• Strong attention to detail with accuracy and precision.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, structures, and piping/electrical systems in the facility.
• Set up and use machine tools to repair or fabricate parts.
• Troubleshoot issues and repair production and facility equipment for efficiency.
• Complete work orders and unplanned/emergency tasks as required.
• Maintain a clean and orderly maintenance area.
• Use maintenance systems to complete daily/weekly/monthly duties.
• Operate material handling equipment safely.

Job description

Perform tasks related to preventative maintenance, mechanical machine repairs, inspection and testing of equipment, building maintenance and specific projects. Perform all jobs safely, efficiently and accurately to maintain and improve the performance of the entire plant in the areas of Safety, Quality, Reliability (SQR) and our Customer 1st strategy. Provide leadership that embodies our 7 Kroger Manufacturing High Performance Work System principles. Responsibilities For Candidates

• Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in the facility.
• Set up and use machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill press and milling machine to repair or fabricate parts.
• Troubleshoot issues, repair failures of production and facility equipment to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
• Complete assigned work orders and unplanned/emergency tasks as required.
• Maintain maintenance area in a clean and orderly fashion.
• Utilize maintenance systems as necessary to complete daily, weekly, monthly duties.
• Operate material handling equipment safely.
• Document work order information/completion.
• Provide support to team in the predictive and preventative maintenance program.
• Participate and actively support all plant initiatives such as minimizing or eliminating downtime and ensuring plant optimization.
• Perform duties accurately and safety in a fast-paced environment.
• Follow established programs, policies and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements.
• Accountable to the Kroger Manufacturing Food Safety and Quality Principles.

Minimum Qualifications for Candidates

• Strong attention to detail with high degree of accuracy and precision.
• Proficient mechanical knowledge and skills one or more of the following maintenance classification: electrical, welding and fabrication, utilities, and basic PLCS.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Strong sense of urgency during periods of downtime.
• Team player with positive attitude.
• Reliable and dependable.
• Self-motivated and self-directed; ability to organize and define tasks with minimal supervision.
• Basic computer use, knowledge and skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines with limited supervision.
