The Commissary Team Leads Assists Commissary clerks to identify, manage, and execute the daily commissary’s production. The Commissary Team Leads oversees the staff on the production floor to attain production and quality goals. Identifies problems or bottlenecks in production processes and resolves issues. Ensures commissary resources including materials, equipment and human capital are available as needed to maintain production schedules. Supports continuous improvement goals in productivity, safety, quality, and cost.
The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Maintain high productivity and cost effectiveness by balancing quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all areas.
Develop staff and promote ongoing skills development.
Promote a safe working environment at all times.
Oversee and distribute work to teams.
Act as communications hub for the team, disseminating pertinent and timely information.
Assist in performing hands-on production and assembly functions.
Report any quality issues to the produce department.
Observe the norms of hygiene, health and safety in the work areas; clean all food preparation areas, surfaces and tools; maintain general housekeeping and sanitation standards in compliance with policy and state and local health regulations on a regular, ongoing basis.
Collaborate with coworkers to ensure that the department positively contributes to the financial interest of the company; m aintain good communications in the department and throughout the organization; assist in training associates when requested or directed to do so.
Monitors raw material and packaging inventories to ensure adequate supply and freshness (rotation) to support production requirements.
Teamwork, communication, organization, and leadership skills.
Ability to deal with ambiguity and effectively manage through change
Experience in a food processing environment.
Experience in the preparation of food preferred.
Food Safety certificate.
Demonstrated experience in food production operations, supervision of hourly staff and related areas of expertise.
Food manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
Ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks and large group of individuals effectively.
Strong interpersonal verbal communication skills required.
Basic math skills and ability to read and interpret basic spreadsheets.
Ability to deal with last minute changes to commissary production schedule.
Team player with a positive, helpful attitude. Must be able to coach others effectively and influence positive change in a team environment.
Self-starter and proven ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Eager to take responsibility for results while reliably showing good judgment, initiative, and resourcefulness.
Ability to work under pressure and under tight deadlines while demonstrating a calm and thoughtful demeanor.
