The position emphasizes management interface, floor-level guidance, and participation in special project teams to drive performance improvements and ensure safe, efficient operations.

Qualifications

What You'll Do

The Commissioning Support Team Member will provide technical oversight and guidance to ensure compliance with requirements and operational practices as relevant to facility and activity startups governed by DOE Order 425.1. The lead will work within multi-discipline teams comprised of production, operations, safety and technical professionals, project management, and construction/maintenance execution. The lead will regularly interface with management to ensure timely, effective, and efficient execution of organizational initiatives related to readiness preparations. Additionally the lead maintains floor-level presence in assigned production areas to better guide developmental efforts associated with performance improvement and personnel level of knowledge.

Responsibilities
  • Reports to and serves as a primary support team member for the Commissioning Support Manager.
  • Maintains proficiency across functional areas to ensure consistent coverage.
  • Provides specific guidance and collaborates across all operating elements of Operations, addressing issues that are cross-cutting and require division or company level solutions.
  • Significantly impacts the organization's ability to evolve, meet customer requirements, gain efficiency, and operate safely.
  • Assists in developing strategic direction; assesses and evaluates organizational performance; leads evaluation of performance issues and development of related action plans and training content; leads improvement initiatives; implements specific technical initiatives; and/or communicates directions, strategies, and plans across the Organization.
  • Applies appropriate and effective tools for project management to ensure timely, effective, and efficient execution of Organization-level initiatives.
  • Represents Commissioning Support on special project teams in a diversity of subject areas; works within multi-discipline teams; obtains buy-in on execution plans and schedules from organizations involved in work.
  • Employs special tools and techniques as appropriate, i.e. project management, operational analysis, nuclear criticality safety, etc.
  • Communicates and coordinates information sharing across the organization and the DOE complex.

Minimum Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • OR Master's degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • OR PhD.
  • In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related scientific major 2 years job-related, and 1-year nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).
  • Twelve (12) or more years of education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting.
Preferred Job Requirements
  • Preferred candidates will have experience in nuclear start-ups and/or readiness assessments.
  • Preferred candidates must demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Preferred candidates must have demonstrated broad knowledge of plant facilities, operations, safety management programs, and understanding of requirement flow down as related to DOE O 425.1.

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.

Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
