Job summary

The Pivot Group Network is seeking a Metrology Technician in Plainwell, MI to perform dimensional inspections, calibrate tools, and document results to ensure product quality. You'll work with CMMs, optical comparators, micrometers, and calipers while supporting continuous improvement.

Qualified candidates have an Associate's degree in Metrology or related field and 2+ years of experience, strong GD&T skills, and proficiency with PC-DMIS, Calypso, or Minitab.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Metrology, QA, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field.
• 2+ years of Metrology Technician experience in manufacturing.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints and GD&T specs.
• Experience with metrology equipment including CMMs, optical comparators, micrometers, calipers, height gages.
• Experience with metrology software (PC-DMIS, Calypso, Minitab).
• Knowledge of calibration principles and ISO 9001 quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform dimensional inspections of manufactured parts using various metrology equipment.
• Calibrate and maintain measurement tools and equipment according to established procedures.
• Document inspection results and maintain accurate records of measurements.

Recommended Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Metrology, Quality Assurance, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related technical field.
• 2+ years of experience as a Metrology Technician or in a similar precision measurement role within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) specifications, and technical documentation.
• Demonstrated expertise in operating and programming various metrology equipment, including CMMs (Coordinate Measuring Machines), optical comparators, micrometers, calipers, and height gages.
• Experience with metrology software for data collection, analysis, and reporting (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso, Minitab).
• Strong understanding of calibration principles, measurement uncertainty, and quality control standards (e.g., ISO 9001).

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with CMM programming (PC-DMIS, Calypso, MCOSMOS)
• Familiarity with GD&T principles and application
• ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT)
• Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC) software (e.g., MiniTab, JMP)
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair metrology equipment
