Job summary

Nivagen Pharmaceuticals, Sacramento, seeks a Metrology Technician II to lead calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of production, laboratory, and testing instruments. You will ensure calibration schedules are followed and results documented.

In collaboration with the Metrology Supervisor, you will support instrument qualifications and temperature mapping while mentoring junior staff and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, computer engineering, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Calibration execution and oversight in compliance with cGMP; schedules and documentation.
• Lead troubleshooting and coordinate with vendors for major repairs; supervise in-house repairs.
• Maintain calibration and repair records per internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Identify process improvements within metrology and implement changes.
• Oversee temperature mapping activities with accurate data collection and analysis.
• Support Validation with instrument qualifications and other validation tasks.
• Assist with vendor coordination for calibration services and equipment purchasing.
• Ensure timely, accurate task completion and provide leadership to junior staff.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Metrology Supervisor.

JOB SUMMARY

The Metrology Technician II leads calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities for production, laboratory, and testing instruments. This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate execution of calibration schedules, resolving complex instrumentation issues, and supporting the development of junior staff. The Senior Metrology Technician works closely with the Metrology Supervisor to ensure all metrology activities comply with regulatory standards and company policies. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Calibration Execution and Oversight:
  Perform and lead calibrations on production, laboratory, and testing equipment in compliance with regulatory requirements (cGMP). Ensure that calibration schedules are adhered to, and results are properly documented.
• Troubleshooting and Repairs:
  Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex instrumentation issues and coordinate with external vendors for major repairs as needed. Supervise in-house repairs of critical instruments to ensure timely and efficient resolution.
• Documentation and Compliance:
  Maintain accurate and complete calibration and repair records in accordance with cGMP guidelines. Ensure all work is performed in compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Process Improvement:
  Collaborate with the Metrology Supervisor to identify areas for process improvement within the metrology function, recommending and implementing changes to enhance efficiency and compliance.
• Temperature Mapping:
  Oversee and perform temperature mapping activities across the facility, ensuring accurate data collection, analysis, and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Collaboration and Support:
  Support the Validation Department by assisting with instrument qualifications, process qualifications, and other validation activities as needed.
• Vendor Management Support:
  Assist the Metrology Supervisor in coordinating with external vendors for calibration services, repairs, and equipment purchasing.
• Compliance and Leadership:
  Ensure all assigned tasks are completed with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to regulatory requirements. Provide leadership and guidance to junior staff to ensure consistent compliance.
• Additional Responsibilities:
  Perform other duties as assigned by the Metrology Supervisor.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

A Bachelors’ degree in such fields as engineering, science, computer engineering, etc. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

This position requires the individual to be organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated and to apply advanced mathematical concepts. Ability to read, analyze, and understand scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Decision making, communication, planning and critical thinking skills are a must. Analytical ability / problem solving, critical thinking skills along with accuracy is required.
