Job summary

Cummins Inc. is seeking a Metrology Technician in Columbus, IN to support engineering by applying metrology principles to test systems and processes.

You will perform product and component testing using a range of measurement devices and coordinate calibration activities to ensure data accuracy for engineers and customers. The role involves basic programming and operation of measurement equipment, development of testing procedures, and collaboration with apprentices and technicians to sustain

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent required.
• Associates degree from an accredited program in a related field and at least two years of relevant experience OR
• Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Responsibilities

• Assists engineers in applying metrology principles to test systems and processes.
• Provides product and component testing using a range of measurement devices.
• Coordinates Measurement Machines and Multifunction Calibrators.
• Interprets product requirements and selects appropriate test methods/technology.
• Provides basic programming, training, and operation of measurement and test equipment.
• Develops and documents testing methods and procedures.
• Maintains housekeeping in the lab to support a high-precision environment.
• Performs calibration and maintenance of measurement and test equipment.
• Complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Engages with customers, suppliers, and engineers to support testing duties.
• Oversees scheduling, planning, ordering, and tracking for programs.
• Leads improvement projects and presents to customers and suppliers.

Education

High school diploma or GED

Associates degree in related field + 2 years experience
