Job summary

BD in Sandy, Utah seeks a Quality Inspector to measure key quality characteristics of plastic and steel components, prepare graphs and reports, and assist engineering in verifications and validations.

You will use calipers, micrometers, gage pins, CMMs, and data tools; ensure data accuracy and traceability; perform MSA studies; and adhere to BD safety and quality policies.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Basic math skills and ability to work with minimal direction.
  • Experience with mechanical inspection and measuring equipment preferred.
  • Understand simple mechanical concepts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions and prioritize daily tasks.
  • Detail oriented with good decision making.

Responsibilities

  • Measure key quality characteristics using calipers, micrometers, gage pins, drop depth gauges, and optical comparator equipment.
  • Measure with CMMs (contact and non-contact) using established routines and fixtures.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and datum structures.
  • Understand and apply tolerances to features on drawings.
  • Perform simple data analysis using Minitab.
  • Ensure accuracy and traceability of measured data; perform MSA studies.
  • Comply with all safety and quality policies and procedures.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Job Description

Job Summary
Measure key quality characteristics as directed of various plastic and steel components. Prepare graphs, charts, and reports of collected data. Assist engineering in product design verifications, process qualifications and validations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform measurements with calipers, digital micrometers, gage pins, drop depth gages, optical comparator etc.

  • Perform measurements on the Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMMs) both contact and non-contact, using pre-established routines and fixtures.

  • Read and interpret the basics of the engineering drawings such as dimensions, diameters, datum structure and definitions of such datum’s.

  • Understand and apply the tolerances of such features.

  • Perform simple data analysis using Minitab.

  • Ensure accuracy and traceability of measured data.

  • Perform Measurement System Analysis (MSA) studies.

  • Comply with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures. Comply with all local BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Basic math skills.

  • Work with minimal direction.

  • Knowledge in MS Excel and MS Word preferred

  • Experience using mechanical inspection and measuring equipment preferred.

  • Understand simple mechanical concepts.

  • Follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Prioritize daily duties.

Minimum Requirement:
