Job Description

  • The Client Metrology And Test Equipment Services (MATES) organization is looking for Metrology & Calibration Technicians to join our Metrology team in North Charleston, South Carolina.
  • This role will be responsible for using calibration standards to calibrate, adjust, certify, maintain, and repair Measurement Test & Equipment (MT&E)/process equipment using approved calibration procedures, process specifications, equipment drawings, and M&TE /process equipment manufacturer's performance specifications.
  • In addition to Metrology responsibilities, this role may also involve activities including, but not limited to: logistics associated with routing calibrated assets to remote Client labs and suppliers for calibration services (shippers, purchase contracts, follow-up and supplier backlog management).
  • This position may also involve aspects of Test Asset Management and Property Management including asset tagging, redeployment, storage and surplus.
  • Metrology And Test Equipment Services (MATES) provides a full spectrum of test asset and metrology services and support for internal customers and products through all phases of the product lifecycle. Services include: calibration/certification for dimensional/optics, electrical/electronic and mechanical/physical measurement and test assets, sourcing management, measurement solutions, repair & maintenance, test asset selection and use, acquisition, allocation, resource and lifecycle management, and specialized test services.

  • Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Associate and Experienced Level Metrology & Calibration Technicians.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Plan, check, set up, and operate Measurement and Test Equipment (M&TE) and/or process equipment
  • Conduct routine tests, analyze data and document results
  • Troubleshoot and recommend resolution of basic laboratory and test-related problems
  • Update equipment status using established systems and complete associated paperwork
  • Ensure equipment is ready for calibration per metrology processes
  • Prioritize and perform work according to automated daily report list, hot list, or as assigned by lead technician
  • Perform visual check of M&TE/process equipment for discrepancies and wear
  • Identify, document, and route non-conforming items in accordance with metrology lab processes
  • Provide information and clarification to customers on metrology processes
  • Work with other employees engaged in the calibration and certification of M&TE, and assist in the development of new calibration processes and procedures
  • Perform computations necessary to analyze measurement test results
  • Perform logistics associated with routing calibrated assets to remote Client labs and suppliers for calibration services
  • Perform tasks associated with Test Asset Management and Property Management including asset tagging, redeployment, storage and surplus
  • This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 1+ years of experience in metrology and/or calibration/certification, and/or instrumentation

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of experience in metrology and/or calibration/certification, and/or instrumentation
  • Experience working on a quality and production orientated team
  • Mechanical background experience

Typical Education/Experience:

  • Experienced (Level 3)
  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor+1 years' related work experience, 5 years' related work experience, etc.).
