The Town of Landis is seeking a Meter Technician to maintain and service AMI and Non-AMI meters within the Public Works Department. You will analyze RNI metrics, dispatch for work orders, perform meter reads, and manage meter inventories.
Requirements include a valid NC Commercial A driver’s license, ability to perform heavy work, and potential nights/weekends. On-site work in Landis, NC with possible calls.
The position of Meter Technician is part of the town’s Public Works Department. This position’s main responsibilities are to maintain and service the AMI and Non-AMI meters of the Town of Landis through analytics and onsite maintenance.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must be able to perform heavy work exerting up-to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up-to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 20pounds constantly to lift objects. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work is generally performed in both inside and outside environmental conditions in which the employee is subject to workplace hazards including exposure to operating mechanical equipment creating fumes, odors, dust, and atmospheric conditions with extreme cold and heat for extended periods of time. Employee is subject to a level of noise requiring workers to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level. In addition, the employee is subject to a chance of injury from walking or standing in a construction site.
This position requires the employee to be subject to random drug testing as per the Town of Landis Policy.
