Job summary

The E.W. Scripps Company in Colorado Springs is seeking a Part-Time Temporary Meteorologist to analyze meteorological data gathered by satellites and radar. You will prepare daily weathercasts, deliver urgent updates, and produce content for TV, radio and digital platforms.

You’ll write, edit, and post weather stories, and work with reporters and photographers to deliver on deadline. You will have a Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology (preferred) with 3+ years in the field, strong AP writing

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Meteorology preferred.
  • Generally 3+ years experience in related field preferred.
  • Computer literacy required, including weather and newsroom computer systems.
  • Knowledge of broadcast quality camera equipment.
  • Knowledge of editing systems.
  • Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills.
  • Proficient at posting content to various websites.
  • Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with company-required limits.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver daily weathercasts using all available weather data and graphics.
  • Prepare and deliver urgent weather updates interrupting regular programming as necessary.
  • Prepare weather materials for TV, radio, internet across platforms.
  • Write and produce weather stories for multiple media platforms.
  • Report live from events or mobile broadcast unit.
  • Collaborate with photographer on stories when assigned.

KOAA, The E.W.
