Job summary

WJAC is seeking a Meteorologist to present the weather forecast for on-air and digital platforms. You will forecast, produce, and present weather casts, telling compelling stories and connecting with viewers at WJAC, part of Sinclair Broadcast Group.

You will issue warnings, create graphics and maps, and report live during weather events, while engaging audiences on social media and writing weather stories. This role includes public appearances and collaboration with producers for daily content.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
• 1+ years’ experience in weather presentation and reporting preferred.
• Ability to tell memorable and meaningful stories with weather data.
• Strong live presentation and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

The main day to day responsibilities of the role will include…

What skills do you need to be successful in our role?

• Ability to tell memorable and meaningful stories, we value visual and compelling storytelling
• Ability to demonstrate experience with active and visual live shots
• In Depth Knowledge of forecasting
• Sharp news judgement and exceptional writing skills
• Ability to multitask while meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks
• Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
• 1+ years’ experience in weather presentation and reporting preferred
