Porter-County-Iron- is seeking a dependable warehouse worker to handle non-ferrous materials outdoors. You will input data into the material receipt system, assist customers, and perform daily safety inspections while maintaining inventory accuracy.

The role requires the ability to work independently in all weather conditions, with overtime and weekend work possible. A High School Diploma is required, and prior metals recycling experience is preferred.

Principal Objective of Position:The non-ferrous warehouse worker handles all non-ferrous material with little supervision. They are responsible for inputting data into company’s material receipt system and required to complete physical inventory.Essential Functions:Completes daily safety inspectionsReceives all non-ferrous material as it comes inProcesses and separates all material as it is receivedGleans material from the yardMaintains a clean and safe work environment that complies with all local, state, and federal safety regulationsIdentifies and treats non ferrous material accordinglyAssists customers when neededPerforms general up keep and provides basic security for the facilityCompletes monthly inventory routineCommunicates with the office and ferrous yard on customer movementCompletes physical inventoryInputs data into company’s material receipt systemOther Responsibilities:Other duties as assigned.Education and Experience Required:High School Diploma or Equivalent, required.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:Can work independently and in a team environmentSelf-motivated and takes responsibility for own work; can manage interruptionsMust perform all duties while meeting safety protocolsMust have good communication skillsMust be dependableMust have the ability to answer any questions and solve any complaints from the customer in a professional mannerMust have good organization skillsThe ability to identify items that are ferrous and non-ferrousDisplays an understanding of local, state, and federal safety regulationsPreferred Qualifications:Previous experience in Metals Recycling, preferredWork Environment:This position is located in an outdoor environment. The ability to work in all weather elements is required. If operating equipment, the position is in a controlled environment but if equipment needs repairs, exposure to weather elements present. Overtime and weekend work will be required at times.
