ALS Limited in the United States seeks a Metals Analyst to perform instrumental analysis of environmental samples using ICP, ICP-MS, CVAAS and AFS. You will prepare standards, tune instruments, process data with software, maintain quality control, and document results in controlled logs.

Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in chemistry or related field.
  • Strong computer skills with Excel and Word.
  • Multitasked, organized and detail oriented.
  • Proficient English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work well in a team and has problem solving capabilities.
  • Knowledge of working in a laboratory environment is very helpful.
  • Must develop an understanding of quality control.
  • Recognize and maintain safe working conditions.
  • Handle hazardous material appropriately and safely.
  • Use appropriate safety equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare standards and reagents.
  • Tune, calibrate, and run analytical sequences per standard operating procedures.
  • Learn and utilize software and systems required to process data.
  • Troubleshoot analytical systems (instrumental and sample prep non-conformities).
  • Document results in logbooks and bench sheets.
  • Understand and apply quality control requirements.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and handle hazards safely.
  • Keep work area clean and orderly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
