Job summary

Kaiser Aluminum in Spokane, Washington is seeking a Product Engineer with a metallurgy focus to join the onsite team. The candidate should have a background in aluminum or aerospace manufacturing and physical/metallurgical metallurgy.

The role acts as the primary technical and quality conduit between customers and internal teams, supporting product development, quality, and process improvements. A degree in metallurgy/materials science is required, with 5 years of relevant experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in metallurgy or materials science required.
• Advanced degree preferred.
• Five years of relevant experience in the aluminum or aerospace industry.

Responsibilities

• Provide metallurgical support to plant, inside/outside sales, and customers.
• Act as liaison between customer and plant on quality and technical issues.
• Develop and implement metallurgical practices to support product development and quality.
• Provide quality assurance support and disposition of quarantined metal and claims.
• Perform manufacturing investigations on suspect product.
• Review specifications for acceptability with metallurgical practices.
• Initiate and execute qualification programs as needed.
• Review and authorize recertification requests.
• Monitor and audit vendor activities.
• Comply with Safety, Quality, and Environmental Regulations.
