Job Summary

Currently we are seeking aLab Technologist(Metallurgy).In this role you will be responsible for a variety of operational-critical activities. The primary responsibilities will include:

  • Perform sample preparation and evaluation in support of production.
  • Independently make judgements regarding the acceptability or rejection of materials
  • Implement and maintain lab policies, procedures, and documents.
  • Ability to interpret specifications and customer product requirements to timely release tested sample material to production.

Essential Functions

  • Must be willing and able to attend required course(s) to become certified to perform all functions of a Metallography Technician.
  • Accurately interpret specifications and customer product requirements.
  • Analyze technical data.
  • Implement and maintain lab policies, procedures, and documents.
  • Process parts for release based on the shipping schedule provided by production to ensure on-time delivery to our customers.
  • Maintain lab records and database(s) in accordance with quality requirements.
  • Provide technical support to both customers and internal departments as needed.
  • Comply with EHS rules required for the work environment
  • Perform all other job duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Experience with laboratory equipment.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years of lab related testing experience.
  • 2 -3 years of Metallurgy experience desired

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude, use of measuring equipment, microscopes, etc.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must pass Metcut Central Coatings Laboratory training program to become certified.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to read and interpret customer specifications, blueprints, etc.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Attention to detail is critical to success in this role.
  • Result driven and accountable for actions, work independently.
  • Views safety as a way of life.
