Job summary

Solcoa Industries in Alameda, CA seeks a Metallurgical Engineering Intern to assist reactor operations and alloy production while maintaining tight documentation. You will work with metallurgists, chemists, and technicians to move from lab scale to production.

Required are ongoing BS/MS studies in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science, and hands-on lab or foundry experience. On-site work is expected; relocation support is offered, and visas sponsorship may be available.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BS/MS in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
• Exposure to pyrometallurgy, electrometallurgy, or high-temperature processing.
• Hands-on experience from labs, foundry work, internships, or projects.
• Detail-oriented documentation and reliable follow-through.
• On-site availability; able to start soon.

Responsibilities

• Assist with high-temperature and high-vacuum reactor operations.
• Characterize feed materials and products using ICP-OES, SEM-EDS, LECO O/N.
• Run furnace cycles, collect data, and summarize results for design iterations.
• Maintain logs of parameters, equipment conditions, and samples.
• Support equipment maintenance: vacuum systems, induction coils, thermocouples, gas handling.
• Contribute to safety culture and continuous improvement on the floor.
