Job description

Job details:

Metallurgical Engineer, up to $130,000, hands on shop floor role, MAGMASOFT experience valued

This Jobot Job is hosted by: Miguel Rodriguez

Salary: $115,000 - $130,000 per year

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Permanent Foundry Engineer to join our dynamic team in the manufacturing industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and improving foundry processes, ensuring quality control, and managing projects to enhance efficiency and productivity. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong background in foundry operations and a keen interest in contributing to the growth and success of our manufacturing operations.

A bit about us:

We have been pouring precision aluminum and magnesium castings out of Texas since 1971. The team supplies close tolerance components to Boeing, Lockheed and other leading names in aerospace, alongside automotive, commercial and defense customers, backed by AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 certification and a shelf of American Foundry Society and U.S. Navy recognition.

Why join us?

This is a chance to put your name on parts that actually fly, from commercial turbine engines to defense and space hardware, inside a foundry that has been doing it since 1971 and still wins industry casting awards for it. You'll work close to the floor and close to the process, with real ownership over how these castings get made.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and manage foundry processes to optimize productivity, efficiency, and quality.
  • Utilize your expertise in process capabilities and process control to monitor and maintain the integrity of the manufacturing process.
  • Design and implement rigging and fixture designs to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Oversee project management, including planning, coordinating, and monitoring projects from inception to completion.
  • Collaborate with the team to troubleshoot and solve complex foundry issues and challenges.
  • Ensure all foundry operations are compliant with health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure machinery and equipment are well-maintained and operating optimally.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the foundry team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in foundry operations and incorporate them into our processes where applicable.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a foundry environment, with a focus on process capabilities, process control, and rigging and fixture design.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management within the manufacturing industry.
  • Strong understanding of foundry operations and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a keen eye for detail.
  • Proficient in using CAD software for design purposes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations within the manufacturing industry.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with a commitment to staying updated with the latest industry trends and best practices.
