Job summary

Mission Critical Group (MCG) is seeking a Metal Shop Technician to assist in fabrication and assembly of custom Switchgear structures, reading blueprints and using hand and small power tools. Travel for install/service may be required.

The role operates on a Tuesday to Friday 4x10 schedule, 1st Shift, on the production floor. Strong tool handling, safety adherence, and teamwork are essential to meet client specs and project timelines.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years in general mechanical or metal working or associated field.
  • Experience in the use of hand tools and hand power tools.
  • Valid driver’s license (for service-related positions).
  • Satisfactory completion ofadditionalbackground screening (if applicable).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the handling of raw steel and copper.
  • Assist in operation of metal shop machinery, including punch, brake, shear and saws.
  • Weld sheet metal goods and prep for coating.
  • Assemble metalwork and handle sheet metal goods.
  • Be proficient in the use of hand tools and power tools.
  • Fabrication, including saw cutting and drilling.
  • Cross train to support other sections of the Company.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Description

The Metal Shop Technician will assistin fabrication and assembly of custom Switchgear structures of varying size and scope to meet client and product specs and prepare the same for shipment. Good understanding of machinery safety. Usehand and small power tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, drills asrequired. Must be able to read and understand blueprints. Infrequent travel may be requiredfor install/service.

Schedule: Tuesday to Friday 4x10 schedule, 1st Shift

Accountabilities:

  • Assistwith the handling of raw steel and copper.

  • Minimum 2 years in general mechanical or metal working or associated field.
  • Experience in the use of hand tools and hand power tools

Required Skill/Abilities:

  • Ability to readblueprints.
  • Follow verbal directions to meet the productionschedule.
  • Ability to use ruler, scale, tape measure, calipers
  • Possess basic tools including gear wrenches, impact gun, torque wrenches,metrics & standard sockets.
  • High dedication toquality ofresults to avoid rework.
  • Ability to work under pressure/timeconstraints.
  • Able to work with minimal direction and achieveobjectives.

Preferred Skills:

  • Welding certification.
  • Forklift experience and/or certification.
  • Carpentry skills.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • This is a FLSA non-exempt position and is paid on an hourly basis, where project requirements and tight client deadlines may require workweeks over forty (40) hours (including weekends or holidays)
  • This role is based on the production floor. This position requires standing for extended periods, working around machinery, and adherence to all safety and compliance standards.
  • Mobility: Ability to move around the manufacturing plant, including walking, standing, and climbing stairs.
  • Manual Dexterity: Occasional use of hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Lifting: Ability to lift and carry items up to fifty (50) pounds. All lifting should be done following OSHA standards.
  • Visual and Auditory Requirements: Must be able to see and hear well enough to navigate the plant safely and communicate effectively with team members.
